Wisdom of a Child
Wisdom of a Child
It was just a few days after the death of his wife.
The old man sat . . . alone . . . on his porch.
He was gently crying.
Hearing the squeaky gate,
he lifted his head and focused;
his four-year-old neighbor trotted towards him.
Reaching the porch
Jason pulled himself up the big steps
and quietly climbed into the old man’s lap.
Later, when he’d returned to his Mother’s side, she’d asked,
“What did you say to Mr. Smith?”
Before he took off running for his swing set, the little boy simply replied,
“I didn’t say anything. I just helped him cry.”
